Cystic Fibrosis campaigners organising protest outside Dail Eireann

A Sligo Cystic Fibrosis campaigner is urging people to support a protest outside the Dail tomorrow.

It’s the second-such protest being organised by CF patients headed by Longford campaigner Jillian McNulty.

They are calling for what they claim is a ‘ground-breaking’ drug called Orkambi to be funded by the government for CF patients.

Jillian McNulty has been on a trial for the drug which she says has changed her life and would enable her to return to work.

Minister Simon Harris is understood still to be in talks with the HSE and the company Vertex which provides the drug and he has appealed for more time to try and come to an agreement on the cost which estimated to cost over €150,000 per patient.

Aisling Golden lost her sister Grainne to CF this time last year at the age of 21 but she says providing Orkambi to other patients like Grainne could save their lives:
