There are calls for further clarification on the future of the District Veterinary Lab in Sligo.
A working group report commissioned by the Department of Agriculture last year is recommending the closure of the Sligo lab as a possible option.
There are 6 labs around the country at present and the report suggests that only the Kildare, Cork and Athlone facilities should remain.
This week, the Department confirmed to Ocean FM News that a review is underway and consultations on the recommendations are ongoing with staff but no decision has yet been made.
