The Mayor of Sligo is calling for support for farmers calls to increase the ANC payments.
Independent Councillor Marie Casserly is to raise the issue at a meeting of Sligo County Council on Monday.
She is calling for the Department of Agriculture to ensure that there is not a significant cut in these payments in the Rural Development Program.
Councillor Casserly says the money would go some way towards covering losses farmers are now facing with poor market prices, increased costs as a result of the poor weather this year and Brexit related issues.
