Parts of north west to get high speed broadband before year’s end

Significant work is being done to roll out high speed broadband in the north west after the region was shown to have some of the slowest speeds in Ireland.

A switcher.ie survey today shows Leitrim, Donegal and Sligo to be amongst the worst counties in Ireland for broadband speeds.

Leitrim came in second last with average download speeds of just 8.94 megabites per second.

But Eir claim that in the past six months 12 new communities in Leitrim have gained access to high speed broadband.

Paul Bradley is a spokesperson with Eir and he told Ocean FM many more parts of the north west will have broadband rolled out before the end of the year.
