The Department of Local Government has approved the extension of the contracts of a number of outdoor workers at Sligo County Council.
That’s according to Fianna fail TD in Sligo Leitrim Eamon Scanlon who attended a meeting with his constituency collagues and Minister Simon Coveney last week to discuss the financial plan at Sligo County Council.
The TDs were calling for the plan to be extended over a longer timeframe than the planned five years.
At the meeting Deputy Scanlon urged the Minister to consider the contracts of the 12 outdoor workers which are due to end in November.
Deputy Scanlon says the Minister confirmed that the contracts can be extended for four months which he has welcomed as good news:
