Sligo and Leitrim county councils are making efforts to deal with illegal grazing by horses, lack of identification of the animals and concerns about their welfare.
Called the Traveller Horse Project, it’s aims were outlined at this week’s meeting of Sligo Municipal District members of Sligo County Council..
It also emerged at the meeting that two sites — one in Sligo and one in Tubbercurry — have been identified to try to deal with the issue.
