Dail row: MacSharry clashes with Leas Ceann Comhairle over speaking time



The Dail was prematurely suspended this afternoon over tensions arising between newly-confirmed Independent Marc MacSharry and the Leas-Cheann Comhairle.

 

The Sligo – Leitrim TD was asking questions over why the idea of modular homes is not being considered to solve the housing crisis in the North West when Deputy Catherine Connolly asked for the question and answer to be as brief as possible as time was running out.

 

A row subsequently erupted over the amount of speaking time afforded to Deputy Marc MacSharry.

 

It’s the first time Deputy MacSharry has spoken on the floor of the Dail since his shock resignation from the Fianna Fail party last week.

 

Deputy MacSharry accused Leas-Cheann Comhairle Catherine Connolly of “consistently” slotting him in as one of the last three speakers:
