Plea to farmers: Wear your masks at the mart

The chairwoman of Sligo IFA is appealing to farmers and those attending marts to wear their face masks and to observe social distancing guidelines.

In some marts, the places where people should stand or sit are marked out.

Last week, the manager of Donegal mart, Emer McGuinness, called on farmers to adhere to all Covid-19 regulations, including social distancing.

Speaking to Ocean FM News this afternoon, Sligo IFA Chairperson Kathleen Henry stressed the importance of the regulations being adhered to so as to ensure the continuing operation of the marts, which are essential for those wishing to sell and buy animals, for rural areas and for the economy in general.
