A status Orange wind warning has been issued for the north west for today as a storm approaches the country.
Storm Gareth is set to bring winds of up to 130 km/h to Sligo, Donegal, Leitrim and Mayo and from noon today.
The warning will remain valid until 9am on Wednesday, while the rest of the country will remain under a yellow wind warning.
There is also the risk of coastal flooding due to high seas.
