New Donegal councillor wants plan to deal with growing demand for housing and accommodation

The newest member of Donegal County County Council is calling for a plan to be put in place to deal with the increasing demand for housing and accommodation.

In his first motion before a meeting of Donegal Municipal District councillors, Independent Seamus Maguire, who has taken former councillor John Campbell’s seat, called for an immediate review of the housing need projections in the county’s development plan.

He also wants this to include consideration of residential zonings of the local area plan for Donegal town, with a view to beginning a variation process.

Cllr Maguire says there is a shortage of rental accommodation in the Donegal Town area.
