More concern over lack of home care support



A Sligo councillor says more than 500 people in the county are now waiting for home care support.

Fianna Fail Councillor Rosaleen O’Grady is insisting the bottom line is that extra funding is needed from central government.

It follows earlier complaints from north Leitrim Councillor Justin Warnock that home care was no longer available to some people in his area who had been receiving it.

And earlier this week, another Councillor Seamus Kilgannon, told a meeting of Sligo County Council of people not getting home care support at weekends and holidays.

However, Fine Gael Councillor Hubert Keaney said there had been a significant improvement in this area, with the HSE having recruited more care staff as well as more people being trained.
