A Sligo/Leitrim TD says he is hopeful that Easkey Post Office can be saved following a meeting with An Post this afternoon.
The postmaster at the West Sligo post office will retire in March and it is now threatened with closure.
But the local community has launched a major campaign to ensure the post office remains open, and a number of residents made their case to An Post management this afternoon.
Deputy Marc McSharry was in attendance, and he says An Post will now make a final decision in a few weeks time:
