LISTEN BACK: Irish international Aoife McDermott

Sligo’s Aoife McDermott has been named in the Ireland women’s training squad for the forthcoming Six Nations Championship. The Riverstown native has been given a first call-up following a string of impressive displays in the second row for both her club and Leinster. McDermott is less than two years playing rugby, having previously enjoyed a hugely successful basketball career, representing the Irish senior team in European competitions. She spoke to Ocean FM’s Darragh Cox on Sunday Sports.
