Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal players all involved in schools interprovincials

A number of Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal youngsters will be involved in the FAI Schools Interprovincial tournament, which gets underway in Dublin today and runs until Sunday.

Lorcan Callaghan from St Mary’s College in Ballisodare; Ryan Smith and Gearoid Mulligan from Summerhill College; St Attracta’s Aaron Perry and Liam Kerrigan; and Niall Morahan from Carrick-on-Shannon Community School are all in the Connacht squad.

And ten of the Ulster squad hail from Donegal, with schools from Letterkenny, Milford, Raphoe, Buncrana, Carndonagh, Stranorlar and Gaoth Dobhair all represented.

Ulster and Connacht clash in the opening game, and following the final fixtures on Sunday, the Irish schools management team will select an international training squad as they begin preparations for next year’s Centenary Shield competition.
