Recycling facility and empty retail unit bring Sligo’s grade down in IBAL league



A recycling unit on Connaughton road and an empty unit in the Cleveragh retail park in Sligo brought down the town’s overall result in the latest IBAL survey.

The latest survey by IBAL shows improvements in cleanliness across the country over the past year overall.

However, Sligo has dropped to 31st place on the table of 40 towns nationwide.

Letterkenny has improved and is now in 25th place on the table.

Tullamore in county Offaly topped the table while inner city areas in Limerick, Dublin and Cork were bottom of the table.

Conor Horgan, spokesperson for IBAL says that while overall Sligo did well as it is still ranked “Clean to European norms” – just two areas brought the grade down:
