There are fears that one of the country’s leading festivals may have to move from Bundoran in County Donegal, where it has been held for the past 10 years.
The annual Sea Sessions surf and music festival takes place the third weekend in June, attracting 5,000 people to the seaside town.
However, it’s understood that due to its increasing popularity, both in terms of the festival site and the area required for camping, there are very limited options for expansion in Bundoran.
Last year, the festival won the IMRO Festival of the Year Award, beating Electric Picnic, Longitude and other major national events.
Ocean FM News understands discussions are now taking place about the possibility of staging the festival in Strandhill, County Sligo, or in Tramore, in County Waterford.
However, one of the festival founders, Daniel Browne, says his preferred option would be to remain in Bundoran, home of the festival for the past decade.
