Public urged to stay away from scene of gorse fire



The Fire Service is urging all members of the public to stay away from the areas affected by the forestry and gorse fire on mountains in the Killery and Crossboy areas on the Sligo/Leitrim border.

The R287 (Dromahair Road) remains closed and will remain so until it is deemed safe to re-open.

Sligo County Council says fire Service crews have been dealing with the fire covering an approx area of 4,000 acres, although not all areas are involved, but access to some areas is difficult.
