More needed than one part-time psychiatrist for North West

A Sinn Fein councillor says a part-time psychiatrist is not nearly enough to cover the needs of those seeking help in the North West.

Families and public representatives in the North West met with the HSE earlier this week to discuss ongoing fears over CAMHS services in the region.

Cutbacks in services at the Solas Respite Centre as well as the continued failure to fill two full-time psychiatrist positions were raised by concerned parents.

Speaking on behalf of the group Councillor Thomas Healy says they do feel they have ben listened to but more meetings will need to take place.

He says the failure to fill the positions is not necessarily the fault of the HSE.
