Candlelit vigil takes place outside North West hospitals this evening



Sligo, Donegal and Mayo will be among a number of locations throughout the country where candlelit vigils will take place outside hospitals this evening.

It’s in protest over what organisers say is the loss of innocent lives due to cutbacks and to signal support to those on waiting lists who continue to suffer.

The events will take place at 7:30pm

The Still Waiting Health Campaign is calling for the resignation of Health Minister Simon Harris, an increase in the number of acute hospital beds to the European average and for more nurses and frontline staff.

Apart from raising awareness and generating publicity, Cyril Brennan of Ballyshannon, spokesman for the Still Waiting Campaign, has been telling Ocean FM News what it’s hoped tonight’s vigil will eventually achieve:
