Call to make funding a priority for greenway along N16 at Glenfarne

A North Leitrim councillor has called for the development of a greenway along the N16 at Glenfarne where road realignment works are taking place to be made a priority for funding.

Fine Gael Councillor Sean McDermott told this week’s meeting of Leitrim County Council that the greenway should be developed into a loop, like what has been done in Dromahair.

Council Chief Executive Frank Curran said they would submit the greenway there along the N16 for funding.

He says greenways and blueways can be 80% funded and he added that the payback from these is fantastic.

He told councillors these projects pay for themselves.

Cllr McDermott outlined the potential of the greenway along the N16 in Glenfarne.
