Proposed gambling bill to impact north west clubs and charities

The impact of the proposed gambling bill on clubs and organisations in the north west has been brought before the floor of the Dáil.

The Bill aims to bring about regulations in different aspects, including gambling licenses, sponsorships, and advertisements.

This includes charities and sports clubs, who will not be permitted to advertise their draw if the prize pool is over €10,000.

Sligo-Leitrim TD Martin Kenny says he acknowledges the importance of the bill but is seeking amendments to be made.

Responding, Taoiseach Simon Harris says he recognises the impact gambling has had on many families throughout the country but says amendments have been brought forward and will continue to be made.
