Eir under pressure to present at Oireachtas Committee hearing



Eir is under pressure to make themselves available for an Oireachtas Committee hearing in the wake of revelations that it had a deliberate policy to prevent customer complaints.

 

The company, which has a call centre in Sligo, was this week fined €7,500 after pleading guilty to 12 counts of breaching regulations governing how complaints should be handled by providers.

 

District Court Judge Anthony Halpin branded the company “a disgrace” and said it should apologise to its staff, who were threatened with disciplinary action if they did not adhere to the policy.
