Scrapping of development levies a positive move for rural areas

The Minister for Housing’s decision to scrap development levies for construction has been welcomed locally.

Darragh O’Brien confirmed over the weekend that he is planning to bring a paper forward to cabinet this week, which will scrap development levies and water connection charges for all homes, including those in rural areas.

It’s thought that the move will save costs of over €12,500.

Fianna Fail councillor, Paul Taylor, is hopeful that the move will encourage developers to move into more rural areas.
