Man dies following Ballina Road Traffic Collision



A man has died after being involved in a road traffic collision in Ballina earlier this week.

 

Gardaí are continuing their investigation into the collision involving a car and two pedestrians on Lord Edward Street, Ballina, Co. Mayo, on Tuesday evening last.

 

A male pedestrian aged 33 years, who sustained serious injuries in the incident, was pronounced dead in Mayo University Hospital yesterday evening.

 

The local Coroner has been informed, and arrangements are being made for a post-mortem examination.

 

The man’s niece who was also injured in the incident has been discharged from hospital.

 

Following the completion of examinations by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, the road, previously closed, has been reopened to traffic.

 

Gardaí have renewed their appeal for witnesses to the collision to come forward. Those with camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area at the time are urged to provide it to Gardaí.
