Western Rail Corridor discussed at Sligo conference today

The Western Rail Corridor was a key issue discussed at the Delivering Regional Balance conference today in Sligo.

Organised by West on Track, it was to highlight the role of infrastructure in boosting the Atlantic Economic Corridor.

As previously reported, there is a strong case for completing the final leg of the Western Rail Corridor project reconnecting Mayo to Sligo, once the planned Galway-Mayo section of the railway has been completed, and is estimated at a cost of €411 million.

Peter Bowen Walsh, a spokesperson with West on Track, noted how the estimated figure is relatively low when compared with similar projects.
