Wicklow manager gets sideline ban after Sligo game

Wicklow senior football manager Oisín McConville has received a four-week suspension for verbal abuse towards the match referee at the end of last Sunday’s Allianz Football League Division 3 game against Sligo at Markievicz Park.

The 2002 Armagh All-Ireland winner was found to have verbally abused Tyrone official Kieran Eannetta in last weekend’s 2-10 to 1-11 defeat by Sligo.

McConville failed in his attempts to have his recommended ban overturned at a Central Hearings Committee meeting on Wednesday night.

As it stands, he’s set to be absent from the sideline for Wicklow’s upcoming Division 3 games against Westmeath and Clare
