St Claire’s celebrate national soccer title

St Claire’s Comprehensive School, Manorhamilton, have won the FAI Schools senior ‘B’ girls national cup final with a 3-1 victory against Coláiste Mhuire of Askeaton (Limerick) in Athlone.

Aine McLaughlin, Megan Rooney and team captain Lauren Devaney scored the St Claire’s girls to land them the national title.

The Leitrim school took the lead in the opening half, only for Colaiste Mhuire to equalise.

In the second-half, Megan Rooney’s excellent lob over the keeper from 12 yards put St Claire’s back in front – and in the closing moments, Devaney supplied the third with an excellent individual effort to make the game safe.
