A man is due back in court today, charged with the murder of his mother in Sligo last year.
Nigel Canavan of 16 Erris Gardens, Erris Street, Crossmolina, Co Mayo appeared before Carrick-On-Shannon District Court on Tuesday morning where he was charged with the murder of Angela Canavan at her home in Sligo on May 1, 2023.
Angela Canavan was found dead on the ground floor of her home on St John’s Terrace – it was ascertained then that she had suffered a number of head injuries, prompting a criminal investigation by Gardaí.
The 38 year old was arrested at Erris Gardens on Monday afternoon.
He’s is due to appear before Sligo District Court via video link later today.
