Tourlestrane appoint Mike Solan as manager

Toulestrane have appointed Mayo’s Mike Solan as their new senior men’s football manager for the 2024 season.

The south Sligo club have again opted to look outside the county in finding a successor to Roscommon’s Fergal O’Donnell, who stepped away from the role after two years in charge.

Tourlestrane’s unbeaten club championship record, stretching back to 2015 and some 45 championship games, was ended by Drumcliffe-Rosses Point at the quarter-final stage of last year’s Sligo senior football championship.

They had won a record-breaking seven consecutive Owen B Hunt cups during that period.

Solan, from Ballaghaderreen, is a former All-Ireland under-21 winning manager with his native Mayo in 2016.

He had been Andy Moran’s right-hand man with the Leitrim senior footballers during Moran’s first year in charge.
