It’s becoming increasingly likely that the Midlands North West constituency will be allocated an extra seat for the upcoming European elections.
Parties have made submissions to the Electoral Commission on the issue, and the decision is set to be finalised following the publication of the commission’s constituency review later this month.
Should the Midlands North West be allocated the extra seat, the constituency boundaries may be redrawn to include Laois and Offaly.
That move is something that current MEP, Colm Markey, feels makes the most sense.
