Killybegs to host this year’s Lorentic Forum

Killybegs is set to host this year’s Lorentic Forum, which will see delegates from across the world travel to Donegal next week.

The visiting delegation for this year’s forum is consisted of representatives from Canada, the US, France and Norway.

This is the 15th year of the forum, which focuses on strategies to build and maintain more sustainable coastal communities, with the event giving policy makers, practitioners, communities, and businesses the chance to come together and share their experiences, insights and learnings.

The Laurentic Forum was first established as a way to mark the sinking of the transatlantic ocean liner HMS Laurentic, off the Northern West coast of Ireland, in Lough Swilly, in 1917. Over 350 men perished that day and 121 survived.

The hosting of the Forum in Killybegs is set to provide the cluster with a unique opportunity to showcase both the unique marine ecosystem and the international businesses operating from the fishing port.

The forum is taking place between the 7th and 9th of November, on the Killybegs ATU campus and you can register at.laurenticforum.com
