Updated: Man dies in Riverstown following a fatal road traffic collision



A man has died in Sligo following a fatal road traffic collision involving a van and an e-scooter.

 

 

Gardaí are currently at the scene of the road traffic collision that occurred yesterday in Riverstown.

 

The collision occurred at approximately 8.10pm in the townland of Rusheen.

 

A man in his 50’s who was travelling on an e-scooter, was fatally injured when he was struck by a van.

 

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

The driver of the van a man in his 30’s received minor injuries and is receiving medical treatment at Sligo University Hospital.

 

The L1303 road is currently closed in Rusheen pending a technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Traffic diversions are in place.

 

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this incident to contact them.

 

Anyone who was travelling in the vicinity of Rusheen, Riverstown yesterday evening between 7.30pm and 8.15pm and who may have camera footage (including dash cam), is asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
