Success for north west at TidyTowns awards



There was success for a number of areas in the north west at the TidyTowns national awards ceremony on Friday.

 

More than 600 Tidy Towns volunteers from all across Ireland attended Friday’s ceremony.

 

Celebrating its 65th anniversary, nearly 900 community groups were involved attracting one of its highest level of entries to date.

 

Riverstown was named as Sligo’s tidiest town.

 

Coolaney/ Rockfield was named in second place with Sligo town in third.

 

In Donegal, judges named determined Buncrana the county’s tidiest town with Letterkenny (second) and Carraig Art (third) just behind them.

 

Carrick-on-Shannon received the highest mark in Leitrim.

 

Fellow South Leitrim town Dromod placed in second with Dromahair in third place.

 

Keadue, meanwhile continues to be Roscommon’s tidiest town.

 

Boyle Tidy Towns and Ballyshannon Tidy Towns also finished second and third respectively in the ‘Town Centre First Award’ category.
