Funeral of Ronan Wilson to take place today



The nine year old boy who died following a hit-and-run incident in Bundoran will be laid to rest today.

 

Ronan Wilson, originally from Kildress County Tyrone was killed after being struck by a vehicle while visiting the town with his family on Saturday night.

 

Tributes have been paid this week to nine year old Ronan, who was an avid Gaelic football fan and played for the under-10s team at Kildress Wolfe Tones GAA club.

 

His father Dean described him as his “main man, my hero and son”.

 

His Funeral takes place today at 12 noon at St. Mary’s Church, Dunamore.

 

Burial will follow afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

 

Earlier this week, 23-year-old Serge Kelly, with an address at Upper Mullaghmore in Sligo, appeared in court, charged with offences under the Road Traffic Act.

 

Mr. Kelly failed stop following the incident, did not render aid and did not contact Gardaí.

 

He was remanded on bail to appear before Ballyshannon District Court on October 20th.
