Sligo IFA Chairperson warns recent comments from President Higgins could damage the agri sector

The Sligo IFA chairman has described as ‘disgraceful’ the recent comments from the Irish President encouraging people to change their diets to help save the environment.

Michael O’ Dowd is the latest farming official to criticise the Michael D Higgins over remarks he made at the National Ploughing Championships.

The President said that there’s ‘no doubt’ people will have to change their diets to help deal with climate change.

The chairperson of the IFA in Sligo says the President’s comments were ill advised and badly timed.
