Calls for Emergency Department Taskforce to meet as 80 people on trolleys in North West

Sligo University Hospital was the second most overcrowded facility in Ireland today with 50 people awaiting admission there this morning.

80 people in total were waiting for beds in the North West this morning, with a further 30 people waiting at Letterkenny University Hospital.

The high numbers waiting have led to calls from the INMO for the Emergency Taskforce to meet urgently to discuss how the HSE plans to tackle the overcrowding crisis.

Nationally, there were 526 people waiting at hospitals across the country today.
