Strandhill set for 37th Warriors Run

The 37th edition of the popular Warriors Run takes place in Strandhill in Sligo this Saturday afternoon.

The 10-mile race from the Cannon at the village’s beachfront to the top of Knocknarea mountain – and back – attracts a capacity 1200 runners and walkers each year.

2023 is no exception with 1219 registered entrants.

The main race will start on Saturday afternoon at 3:15pm followed by the Junior Warriors Run and the Warriors ‘Walk’ a short time later.

The race HQ this year is the new National Surf Centre, located near the finish line in the heart of the village.

It will be the hub for race-pack collection for the athletes before the race, and for athletes refreshments and services after it.

Warriors Run PRO Micki Murray spoke with Ocean FM Sport’s Austin O’Callaghan on the eve of the event.
