There is no further reason not to proceed with a new state of the art Garda facility in Sligo.
That’s according to Councillor Marie Casserly, after it was announced that Donegal will no longer be amalgamated with the Sligo/Leitrim Garda division.
Under the previous regime, it was planned that a Garda headquarters would be built in Letterkenny, despite the need for a new Garda station in Sligo.
A site in Cleveragh was already earmarked to build a new up-to-date station that could also host the fire station.
Speaking to Ocean FM News, Councillor Casserly believes that now is the time to progress with the upgrade.
