Sligo Councillor fears the Ryan line to the general public is not open

A Sligo Councillor has described the actions of Transport Minister Eamon Ryan where he issued a block on construction of ten vital roads as another example of the Green party leader ‘playing to his own audience’.

It’s being claimed this morning that the move is hampering connectivity between rural Ireland and urban centres.

Following Minister Eamon Ryan’s directive funding to Transport Infrastructure Ireland can only be spent on planning and design.

Although the directive will not directly impact the proposed the N17 upgrade between Collooney and Knock Minister Ryan has already thrown the future of this project in doubt after making comments in Sligo earlier this summer.

Councillor Donal Gilroy says the design of future projects should not be impacted by comments from Minister Ryan, however the Sligo Drumcliff Fiannna Fáil councillor says the comments  show how disconnect Minister Ryan is with the needs of the general public.
