Sligo University Hospital the second most overcrowded hospital in June



According to the latest figures from the INMO, Sligo University Hospital was the second most overcrowded hospital in the country throughout the month of June.

The figures show that 822 people were waiting on trolleys in Sligo, second only to University Hospital Limerick, where 1,689 were left waiting for a bed.

The latest statistics show that overcrowding in Sligo University Hospital has been steadily increasing. In comparison with June 2022, there has been a rise by 210, with 612 people awaiting admission in Sligo this time last year.

The other facilities that made up the top five most overcrowded hospitals in June were Cork University Hospital, University Hospital Galway, and St James’ Hospital, Dublin.
