Donegal Mountain Rescue Team involved in weekend rescue operation

Details are emerging of a search and rescue involving the Donegal Mountain Rescue Team from over the weekend

The Donegal Mountain Rescue team have confirmed that they were called by An Garda Síochána to Errigal Mountain on Saturday last.

The assistance of the rescue team was required after a walker that had set out from the Miners Path on Muckish to cover the Seven Sisters trail suffered fatigue and dehydration.

Team members began making their way to assist the walkers before receiving an update that those involved had successfully descended the mountain without assistance.
The D.M.R. leader proceeded to Errigal to meet the walkers and confirm in person that they were safe.
They were provided with water and food and were deemed stable to return home.
In the aftermath of the event warnings have been issued how dehydration can set in quickly with higher temperatures.
Walkers are reminded to make sure they have adequate water and food  as well as appropriate clothing, headwear, sun cream and a charged phone.
