Government claim solutions are being sought to ease students accommodation crisis in Sligo



The Children’s Minister has confirmed that engagements between Government Departments and other relevant stakeholders over the major student accommodation debacle in Sligo are ongoing.

 

It emerged in recent weeks that Milligan Court and Benbulben Court in the town – two apartment complexes which traditionally houses students – are to no longer do so.

 

It’s thought that up to 500 students are now left scrambling for somewhere to live at a time when accommodation is already at a premium in Sligo Town.

 

The issue was raised in the Dail by Independent TD Marc MacSharry:

 

While responding, Minister Roderic O’Gorman says talks got underway when it became apparent it would have a huge impact on student accommodation but those talks have yet to conclude:
