Donegal make winning start to championship



Ulster champions Donegal made a winning start to their TG4 All-Ireland senior football championship campaign with a 2-10 to 1-8 win over Waterford in Saturday’s opening Group 2 game in Lifford.

The game marked the return of former All-Star Geraldine McLaughlin to the Donegal attack as a second-half subsitute, here first county appearance of the season.

Maxi Curran’s side now prepare to take on defending All-Ireland champions Meath in the concluding group game on July 1st.

Two teams from Group 2 will qualify for the All-Ireland quarter-finals.
