Local projects to benefit from HSE Capital Plan funding



The Government has announced today an investment of over 1 billon euro in the Country’s health and social care infrastructure.

 

The funding allocated for 2023 will progress and deliver a range of acute and community projects across the country.

 

A significant allocation of funding to deal with infrastructural risk, replacement of equipment including ambulances is also included.

 

A number of projects in Sligo, and South Donegal have been included In this plan.

“€16.64m is allocated to capital projects at Sligo University Hospital, while projects Ballymote, Cloonamahon, St John’s Campus, Markieviecz House, Nazareth House, St John’s Community Hospital and Tubbercurry has also received funding under the plan.

 

In Donegal 3.27 million euro has been allocated in Ballyhsannon for the CNU to replace existing beds at the Sheil Rock Nursing units.

 

Sligo Leitirm TD Frank Feighan says Sligo University Hospital and the North West Hospice will benefit most:

 

Additional Bed Capacity: Provision of a 2 x 21 bed wards, single en suite rooms with ancillary accommodation. 2.68m
Carpark and associated enabling works to facilitate the provision of a new Ward Block. 7.50m

Macular Treatment room – extra space to perform increased injection therapies and opthalmic surgery 200,000
North West Hospice extension to provide 12 beds (4 additional), outpatient day care & home care team, admin space, 15 car park spaces 4.75m
Provide a roof top extension to the ICU at Sligo University Hospital to provide 4no. additional Isolation rooms. 100,000
Redevelopment  – Phase 1 . Ward Block, HDU/ICU, Radiology, Paediatric, Maternity/Obs,Theatre Department , ED/AMAU/CDU. 150,000
Sligo Acute MH Unit, Enabling Works. 25 beds 60,000
The Installation of a Second CT scanner at SUH – Included in these works is a new build consisting of approx. 120m2 for the relocation of Nuclear Medicine, reconfiguration of existing Nuclear medicine with extension to take Second CT Scanner accompanying requirements. 200,000

 

 

Ballyshannon CNU to replace existing beds at the Sheil & the Rock as per Service Priority List 3.27m

 

 

 

Other Sligo projects include,

Ballymote, Co. Sligo Construction of a new building on a HSE owned site at Ballymote, Sligo for use as a Day care services for Sligo/ Leitrim. This building is to relocate existing services being provided by IONA Transition Programme at leased building at Cregg House. 150,000
Cloonamahon HSE contribution to public park. This allocation, income from sale of lands to NRA for N4 road realignment, to upgrade the old farmyard and orchard to create a sensory garden and horticulture area, for use by disability and mental health day services. 120,000
HUB 01 – St. Johns Campus, Sligo Refurbishment of an existing single storey office block (140sqm), and an extension (345sqm). The overall project will provide office accommodation, clinic rooms, receptions, etc. 70,000
Markieviecz House Sligo Refurbishment (Listed Building) Under review, accommodation strategy.
