Coleman’s Everton survive again

For the third consecutive season, Everton ensured their their English Premier League survival on the final weekend with a 1-0 win over Bournemouth at Goodison Park on Sunday.

The result ensured Leicester City (who beat West Ham 1-0) were relegated along with Leeds United and Southampton.

Republic of Ireland captain Seamus Coleman missed the relegation run-in after getting injured a fews ago in a 2-2 draw with Leicester City.

The Killybegs man’s absence appeared to be hurting their survial bid in recent weeks – but on Sunday, the victory over Bournemouth ensured Premier League football once again at Goodison Park next season.

Coleman, one of the club’s most loyal and popular players in the modern era. is out of contract with Everton at the end of the current season and, at the age of 34,  it’s still unclear whether he will be offered a new one over the summer.
