Trade mission to China must benefit the Irish producers, according to Sligo farmer

A local farming official has welcomed Agricultural Minister Charlie McConalogue’s trade mission to China, but has also provided a warning.

Minister McConalogue led the first Ministerial trade mission to China since the Covid pandemic to promote Irish meat, dairy and seafood products in the Chinese market while concentrating in particular on ensuring Irish beef is taken back into China.

President of the Irish Beef and Lamb Association and Sligo farmer Gerard Pilkington says the price being should be reflected in what the producer receives.
