New figures show disparity between private and public healthcare costs



New figures published by the HSE have shown that the disparity between public and private healthcare costs across the North West has increased within the last year.

In Donegal, the average fee payable on behalf of an individual HSE nursing home resident is now €831 more than those in private and voluntary nursing homes.

That has increased from €688 in January 2022.

In Sligo, the difference is now €722, up from €620 last year.

Meanwhile, the difference in Leitrim is €649, which has increased from €559 since last January.

Speaking to Ocean FM News, Tadhg Daly, CEO of Nursing Homes Ireland, urged the Government to provide some stability for the healthcare sector:
