North West to benefit from €4.5m funding in housing grants for Older and Disabled people



Counties Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal have been allocated over €4.5 million in national funding under the Housing Adaptation Grants for Older and Disabled people for 2023.

The Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O’Brien TD, and the Minister of State for Local Government and Planning, Kieran O’Donnell TD, have announced €83.125m in national funding for 2023.

Under the funding, 80% comes from the Exchequer while the remainder comes from local authorities.

Donegal has been allocated €2.517,507 under the funding.

County Sligo has also broken the one million mark with €1,455,923 allocated while €716,331 has been allocated for Leitrim.

The 2023 funding allocation is expected to result in some 12,300 grants for older people and disabled people, to facilitate them living independently in their own homes.
