A year has passed since Minister Eamon Ryan issued prospecting licenses for 47 townlands in Leitrim.
The decision to award these licenses was met with great concern both by the communities affected and by Leitrim County Council, but the prospecting licences were issued by Minister Ryan regardless.
Speaking to Ocean FM News, member of Treasure Leitrim, Jamie Murphy, said that these communities have faced obstacles like these when they took on the fracking industry, and expects the campaign to remove the prospecting licenses to be a long and drawn-out affair.
