TD claims there’s no balanced regional development in North West



The Border Region is a region in freefall, that’s according to the Sligo Leitrim TD Marian Harkin

The Independent Deputy raised the issue with the Taoiseach in the Dáil, claiming that data compiled by the EU Commission suggests that GDP per capita for the Border Region it has dropped to 52% of the EU27 average the lowest since records began.

The Taoiseach however has defended the government’s record in economic development in the North West and border region, adding that the numbers working have risen since the government came to power in 2020, with average incomes have also increasing.
